My background working as a psychologist in medical settings and universities informs a practice that emphasizes my client’s overall health. This includes physical, emotional, behavioral, and mental health. I have experience working with a variety of approaches (cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, structural family therapy, client-centered therapy, and gestalt therapy) and I integrate these approaches to help clients feel healthier, happier, more confident, and more comfortable in their day-to-day life.
I grew up in a large family in Southern California and I have known, since I was 14 years old, that I wanted to be a clinical psychologist.
This is my educational background:
- University of California, Irvine – B.A. in Psychology
- California State University – M.A. in Experimental Psychology
- Texas A&M University – Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology
- University of Washington School of Medicine – Predoctoral Internship
- University of California, San Diego – Postdoctoral Fellowship
My husband and I moved to Blacksburg in 2004 and I love the New River Valley and the sense of community I have found here. It has been a great place to live, work, and raise our family. I have worked at Radford University for most of the last 12 years and I have loved working with students at the bachelors, masters, and doctoral level. I also worked for New River League of Therapists for three years as an outpatient and in-home therapist and supervisor.
